Home Remedies to Get Rid of Oily Hair Naturally at Home

Aloe Vera: It is the best natural way to treat your oily scalp. Take a cup of mild shampoo and add in it 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1 tsp of fresh Aloe Vera gel. Make a mixture of it and store it in a bottle in the refrigerator. Shampoo your hair every day with this mixture to get rid of oiliness.

Diluted Vinegar: In two tablespoons of white vinegar and mix it with water to rinse your hair after shampooing. Vinegar cleans your scalp.

Lemon and Water: Post shampooing your hair; make a mixture of one lemon juice and some water to rinse your hair. Lemon cleans your scalp and removes greasiness.

Beer Rinse: Alcohol or beer brings dryness in hair. Take half a cup of beer and mix it in a couple of cups of water. Now rinse your head with it after you are done with shampoo.

Tea Rinse: Tea has a soothing effect but does you know that it can make your hair oil-free? Well, boil tea leaves in a glass of water and when it becomes lukewarm, apply the tea water on the scalp and hair. Let it remain for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it with water and shampoo.

Egg Yolk and Lemon Juice: Take 2 egg and separate the yolks from them. Now add in it a few drops of lemon juice. Beat it to make a smooth paste. Apply it gently on wet hair and let it sit for 5-7 minutes. Rinse it with normal water. Regular application can give you positive results soon.

Oatmeal: Take a plain oatmeal pack and cook it. Let it cool and at room temperature, before you apply it on the scalp. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it with your regular shampoo.

Baking Soda: This white powder is much helpful for treating oily hair. Just make a mixture of 3 tbsp baking soda and some water. Apply the mix on hair and leave it for 20 minutes. Now shampoo your hair to kick off the greasiness. Try this thrice a week to get best results.

Tea And Rosemary Rinse: Take 2 tbsp of dried rosemary herb and add it to one cup of boiling water. Let it seep for 20 minutes. Now strain it and cool. Store this mixture in a plastic bottle and every time you shampoo rinse hair with it.

Henna: As henna has a drying effect, it is suitable for oily hair. Applying it with yogurt can give you fruitful results.

Tomato Juice: Make a pulp of ripe tomato and mix in it fuller earth’s clay or multani mitti to make a pack. Now apply this hair mask and leave it for 30-minutes. Rinse it off with cold water.

Avoid Conditioners: Using too many conditioners can quickly make your hair oily. So it is advisable to use it occasionally.

Switch To Non-Oily Shampoo: When your scalp already has so much oil secretion then why need shampoos with oil extract? For oily hair, it is recommended to use dry shampoos.

Do Not Touch Hair: Avoid touching, or combing your hair frequently if you have oily hair as the more you will touch or brush the more your scalp will produce and spread oil which will eventually make your scalp and hair greasy.

Diet: A healthy diet can keep your hair healthy and oil-free, so it is recommended to add in your diet salmon and walnuts for omega-3s, and spinach and carrots for vitamin A. Also, include iron and protein rich food in your diet to have healthy hair.

Shampoo Alternate Day: Since dirt and impurities stick on oily scalp faster, use conditioner and shampoo every alternate day.

Homemade Shampoo: How about trying the grandma’s trick to keep your hair healthy by using the homemade shampoo?  Take equal parts of Shikakai and Reetha and soak it overnight. Next morning rinse your hair carefully with it and say goodbye to oily hair.

Corn Flour: It is also a much effective remedy. Just take some cornflour and sprinkle it on scalp generously. Massage your hair for 5 minutes and let it remain for 30 minutes. Now comb the excess powder and wash it off with a mild shampoo. Using it twice a week can give you fruitful results.

Orange Peel: Take orange peels (you can also take dry peels) and grind them. Now add in it 2tsp of honey and apply the paste on scalp and hair. Let this mix stay on your hair for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse it with a mild shampoo.

Banana: Have a ripe banana and mash it. Add in it 1 tsp of honey to make a smooth paste. Apply on scalp generously and let it remain for 20 minutes. Later wash it off with regular water and mild shampoo.
