Garlic is considered as a bacteria exterminator and its juice aids to remove the infection. Here’s what you can do if you’re experiencing a bad toothache. Take a few garlic clove and extract its juice by crushing it. Now apply that juice over an infected area.

Clove Oil:

It is another remedy which helps in oral infection by killing it. It has wonder effects on gum diseases and toothache. What you are to do is to apply clove oil and massage the area gently with it. But be careful and not to implement the pressure in an infected area. Also, apply the oil onto your gums and massage it. It will help to eliminate the bacteria.

Peppermint Oil:

It works like a wonder in a toothache. Take a drop of the oil, apply it to infected area and massage with it gently on that area. This will give you instant release in a toothache caused by an abscessed tooth.

Oil Slush:

It is another remedy which helps to kill the bacteria and provides relief in a toothache. All you need is a coconut oil. Get 1tbs. Of coconut oil and keep it in the mouth. No, no do not swallow this; slush it with for 30 minutes. Now Spit it out and rinse mouth with warm water. This remedy will make you feel relieved.


Salt is another great remedy which is known as an instant pain reliever. In a glass of lukewarm water, mix a small amount of salt and mouthwash with this solution. You will experience pain in starting washes; after some washes, you will feel relief. Do it thrice to reduce it to 90%.

Tea Bag:

It is another home remedy which will give you instant relief from a toothache due to an abscessed tooth. All you are to do is to put on the herbal tea bag on the infected area. But be very careful; do not hurt yourself by applying pressure.

Oregano Oil:

Who knew that these herbs do wonders other than pizza also? The oil of oregano is filled with antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and antiviral properties. It is a beneficial home remedy for gums diseases and tooth. Thus, it is advised to do some massage from this.


Raw potato helps to get rid of the infection but slowly. Get a potato sliced to be enough to keep in mouth. Place it in between the cheek and the infected area, and leave it overnight. Next morning, rinse it with water and repeat this daily.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

It is another effective natural ingredient remedy for an abscessed tooth. Get a spoonful of apple cider vinegar in your mouth for five minutes and then spittle it out. This remedy will help to sterilize the infected area. ACV will also help to decrease the swelling.


We know that turmeric has antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which will help to reduce the pain and the inflammation due to an abscessed tooth. Make a paste of turmeric with water and after a brush apply it on the infected area. Leave it there for few minutes and rinse it with lukewarm water.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda increases the pH of saliva to an average level and works as powered antiseptic used to ditch abscess unsurprisingly. Mix salt with a half tablespoon of baking soda. Apply the paste with the help of a cotton ball. Place the cotton ball on the affected area and cheek. Leave it for few hours. Repeat the process regularly.

Olive Oil:

There is a chemical present in olive oil that aids to kill the bacteria which causes abscessed tooth and reduce a toothache. This compound is called eugenol. Apply olive oil to the infected area and gums.

Hydrogen Peroxide:

It is another natural disinfect that holds antibacterial properties. It helps to the kill the harmful bacteria and relieves pain and inflammation. Add a tbs. of warm water in a 2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide. Wash your mouth with this mixture but do not swallow the solution.

Cold Compress:

A pack of ice will give an instant relief in pain. Whenever you face a toothache, do cold compress for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Take good care of your oral health. Brush three times a day and spend few minutes to clean gums.
  • Do not forget to floss. There is various flavored floss in the market, get them and add it to your oral health regime. Do it twice a day.
  • Try not to chew gum too much.
  • Use antimicrobial rinse to reduce the infection.
  • Avoid tobacco and cigarette. It can cause some serious oral problems.
  • It is suggested to follow a healthy diet, means less sugar and carbohydrate food.
  • Select a brush, whose hair are soft; it will not give any damage to your gums.
  • Gently brush your teeth.
